My sister in law just got unexpectedly presented with papers yesterday from her ex to take custody of her 11-yr old daughter to avoid paying child support. She had an attorney to help her fight a lack of payment for child support. She does not have competant legal representation or much money to defend against this case. The daughter does not want to live with her father. Is she of age to tell the court where she wishes to be raised? Is there anyone that can help with a case like this on a deferred payment basis in Collin County?

I'm guessing the papers don't say that.

Was Mom married to Dad?

Mom's daughter may be able to make her wishes known but she cannot choose where she wants to live until she is 18. Even if.

I'm sorry, we don't offer attorney referrals here. The best thing you can do is advise Mom to come here to ask her questions - it will be much easier to advise her directly :)
