i left an abusive relationship after 20 years (married 17) i have 5 kids. i left wisconsin and moved to georgia, i have been here 8 months now. my husband has stopped any support and refuses to pay for the kids if they are here with me. i pick them up and take them back periodically.
i am looking for work but now depend on a male friend for residence and food and trasportation in return i do odd jobs. i want to file for divorce but since i am in Georgia now and i know my husband will fight me for custody. what are my chances of getting the kids? (i was a house wife for 20 years and have no job skills) i am working on that now.
and if i do get custody, will it be at my expense to get them back to see their father on his visitations?

You should file for divorce, custody, Child support AND alimony in GE now. I suggest you do not send the child back to the father until you have spoken to an attorney and filed the papers into court. Otherwise he can refuse to return the children and file in WI.

Your chances of custody of the children are good to excellant. The travel expenses can be addressed during the divorce. Make sure you get an attorney as a divorce of this nature will be messy as you need to look at property, assets, pensions etc..
