i have been divorced since 1992. we have a 12 yr old son. we have always done the every other weekend thing. a couple of years ago he stopped paying child support gave me the run around. finally, 1 yr ago, i turned him into the attorney general office. he didnt see his son all last year. he started back again in jan 2001. here recently the ag's office, he owes about 10k, has really put the squeeze on him. i received his irs check etc. he was really upset over that. well today he called and he wants to exercise his july 1st - july 30 visitation. he has never got him any extra time. well our 12 yr old doesnt want to go. he has football camp and he has never been without us more than a week. he refuses. he wants to go to a judge and tell them he will do every weekend or stay a week in august before school starts. i tried everything to work with my ex but he refuses. our 12 yr old says he will run away that he isnt gonna be without his family. this all happened this afternoon. he did attempt to get our son today but our son had gone to his grandparents. i called the sherffis dept because he wouldnt leave off the property. the sherriff said he wasnt gonna make our son leave but there is a law that i could be arrested. is there a new law that has past in texas? we have an appointment monday to see a lawyer. but he is coming back sunday, july 1st, to try and get errin again. he told the sheriff if he gets his hand on our son he will not return him to me til july 30th. the officer said he wasnt going to arrest me and that to call them back out if he doesnt leave after 6 sunday. i guess what i am asking does my son have rights? if he is able to tell were he lives by the age of 12 can't he decide on this also? he is very upset. he is 12 and going into 7th grade.
