One of the obligations to your child as a parent is to provide shelter. What if it is poor shelter.Where my stepson lives (with his mother) The ceilings leak. Have to have buckets around everwhere when it rains. Even when the snow melts off from the roof in the spring. We are talking major mildew (bacteria) They also almost had a electrical fire where the water was running down into the electric outlet ( it was smoking). My question is wouldnt it be best if my stepson came and lived with his father and I with better living conditions. What are our chances for getting custody. He is 10,and we live in Vermont.

Chances are fair.. Personally I would first call CPS and have them perform a spot check. Getting custody would be a lot easier if they report on the conditions or even take the children from that environment.
