You notify him, 30 days in advance of your intent to move, or petition the courts for permission. You need to change the visitation AND compensate him for the extra travel costs.

rochelle,
Take some sound advise from someone who has fought a 5 year custody battle!!
You DO NOT need to compensate your ex for traveling expenses.
My ex picks up my son in AZ twice a year. I then go to PA where my ex is to retreive my son after visitation is over and befor school resumes. I pay for my traveling expenses and my son's 1 way ticket back to AZ. My ex pays for his traveling expenses and my son's 1 way to PA. It is also agreed that when my son can fly alone both of us will split the cost of a round trip ticket. Futher more I am the parent who left PA and moved 2500 miles away! This is a standing court order and ALL COSTS ARE SHARED EQUALLY. After all it took two people to make the child-why should only 1 be responsible for all debts! I do highly advise you to seek a court order!!!
Good luck
All information is strickly opion and does not constitute any/all legal morale

First take caps lock off, it gives me a headache.

You have two choices, either give him written notice of your intent to move. He then has the choice to petition the courts to stop the move..

Or, you pre-empt his legal action and you petition the courts for permission and then let him fight to stop you.

First you say she does not need to pay travel expenses and then you start that you pay half ??.. The burden of costs for travel will always fall to the parent who moves away. I am sure that if your ex had moved you would not be so willing to pay his expenses. It was your decision to move to AZ so you *could* have been ordered to pay a great deal more than 50%.

beagle,
DO YOU ONLY READ WHAT YOU CHOOSE TO!!!!! I CLEARLY STATED THAT SHE DOES NOT NEED TO COMPENSATE HER EX.
THEN WENT ON TO STATE FACTS THAT APPLY TO ME PERSONALLY!!!
ANY AND ALL EXPENSES SHOULD BE SHARED EQUALLY AMONG PARENTS.
AND NO--THE COURTS COULD NOT OF MADE ME PAY MORE THAN 1/2-AS CUSTODY IS SHARED AND ANY/ALL EXPENSES SHALL BE SHARED AS WELL--THIS IS STATED THROUGH PENNSYLVANIA COURT OF COMMON PLEAS

May I ask why you feel the need to turn on the caps lock after LB had asked the poster to turn hers off?
Also, why do you feel the need to come here and antagonize someone by repeatedly undermining their advice to someone?

I understand you have experience with the courts in PA, but PA is nto all states. Each state has different laws and that is what makes advice here viable and reliable. The contributors at this site take the time to look up the codes and statutes necessary to give valid advice.

Then your statement 'You DO NOT need to compensate your ex for traveling expenses.' is incorrect.

End of Debate.

I appreciate everybodys advice, I take it as opions. Its good to have all kinds of experiences shared with me I do beleive that my ex could help pay half. But I offered to either give up my child support or use it towards my sons travel expense. The time my ex spends with our son is so little and it just fustrates me That i have to seek his permission to leave state to make a better life for our son.The child support he pays is nothing to raising a six year child today. Please I look forward to all opions and experiences and I thank you for your time
