What is the name of your state? South Carolina

My ex boyfriend and I had a child together. She is now 2 months old. He is willing to sign away his rights, which is what we both want. I just need to know is it legal if myself or someone else to type up a letter stating that he gives away his rights to the child and then have a notary sign it? Will it stand up in court if one day he changed his mind and decided he wanted something to do with her? Thank you in advanced.

What could I do then so that he gives away his rights?
You could check out the FAQ and the search function of this site. Look for "TPR" and other similar questions, especially in your state. This is a totally common question.

I am currently engaged and my fiance has already signed the birth certificate, not the biological father, is there anything else I would need to do from there?

Yep. And no one here, that I know of, will help you do this.
Awe but common silver, think of all the "musical daddy" fun we will have when this one leaves her, and challenges paternity, and then she wants to go after bio dad for cs.

Answer to questions. Thank you.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes I am able to provide a stable home I am married with one child a 2 month old daughter.
My husband is in the Military and I am a stay at home mother. So I will be able to stay home with her.
I am 22 and I do not drink as a result of my mother's drinking. It is not something that I want my daughter around .
I can prove that she is dangerous. She has severe seizures and is not supposed to be drinking or driving. She drives around with my little sister in the car.
There is a dad, but he is not really in the picture. He lives in another state and can not provide a stable home enviornment for her. He is months behind on his child support.

I really appreciate the advice. Thank you.

An ex boy-friend, a husband and a fiance? She's been a busy little beaver the past 11 months.
