My husband's ex-wife is currently the custodian of their 7 year old son. Two years ago, she decided to relocate from Puerto Rico to the state of Virginia and agreed in court to keep my husband informed of the child's physical address and phone number.

Last August, during the child's summer visit to Puerto Rico, she surprisingly showed up with the local Police and had the child removed from our home, claiming that we did not want to return him (they had agreed the child was to return on Sept. 4th, because she could not fly on an earlier date). Since then, August 17, 2001, we have no idea where have they moved, nor can we get in touch via telephone.

We visited a local lawyer who told us that since the PR Court has no jurisdiction in the US there is nothing we can do.

Can someone please advise us?

Thanks,

Raquel A. Santiago
