Question? My wife has joint custody of her 2 boys, ages 13 and 16.The boys live with their father and we get them on wednesdays and every other weekend. The boys have signed affidavits stating they want to live with us instead of their dad.Yesterday my wife asked her ex-husband if she can see the boys for at least 2 hours on thanksgiving day(he gets them today). He said NO,which hurt us and left sadness on the boys' faces.
What can happen to the boys if they decide to visit us on their own and not want to reurn to their father? We are trying to go to court but due to excessive legal expenses,it is taking a long time. The boys father is very mentally abusive and is never there for them,my wife and I buy their school clothes, get them haircuts and give them lunch money, yet their father earns more than my wife and I combined. Can the boys get legally in trouble?
