What is the name of your state? IN

Okay here is the question I have for everyone. DH has a daughter, now aged 18 that is leaving for college in another state in August. DH suggested that instead of paying cs to his ex he could instead pay it directly into his daughters checking account for use at college. His ex seemed okay with the thought of giving their daughter the money, but hinted that she would rather him give HER the money and she would "make sure it got into their daughters account" in other words, his daughter would never see any of it. My question is this, since his daughter is technically an adult, and moving out of the house to another state to attend college full time......is it legal for him to give the cs money to his daughter instead of his ex or is he still responsible for giving it to his ex and letting her do whatever with it?

Thanks for any advice.

The only way he can legally do that is to take it back to court and try to convince the judge to allow him to give it directly to his daughter. The judge may or may not agree. If he does it without a court order....then the money he gives his daughter will be considered a gift...and he will be racking up arrearages to mom.
