I'm from Iowa. My husbands ex-wife left him for someone else, he has one son with her for whom he pays 25% of his income in child support. He finally found "Mrs. Right" (Me), we've been married 8 years and now have 2 children together. Because of his child support he pays to his first born, I tease him that he can't afford to leave me. We are very committed to each other, but just curious to know how that really works if we were to seperate. Is it 25% for each child. Just a Question, not a action.

Your children would be taken into consideration.. but generally, since there is a court order for the first child, you would receive x% of gross-tax and -the money he already pays to the first child. So while you may get 25%, it would be 25% of what is left.
