in texas,if a child, who you pay child support for, goes to a gyn, are you entitled to know what the reason is. she is not yet 17, and the dr. bill stated maternity, and was over $600. the childs mother said it was none of the fathers business, and dr. won't tell because it is client-patient privilege. does the father have any recourse?

If you have joint legal custody of the child, then you have an enforceable right to know and help make the decisions on medical, religious and educational issues.

If you do not have joint legal custody, then you do not.

FYI, most teenage girls don't want their gynecological business shared with others, even their dads. You might want to keep this in mind as you decide how to handle this issue.

She might not want her father to know about her gyn visits but if the bill said maternity visit shouldn't he be informed that he is possibly going to be a grandfather?

Do you get visitation? If you do you will know soon enough whether or not it was a typo. Let say in about 5 months!

Maternity is such a general term.

She could be pregnant -- or it might be that she had an abortion.

We're just speculating here....
