I know this is a strange question but, I just wondered if a father who has given up all rights to his daughter when she was 5 but, wants to have contact with her now can be made to pay child support. I know that in Texas a parent can give up all rights to their child but, they still have to pay child support. But, when my ex gave up his rights he owed me $1300 and did not have to pay child support. My daughter wants to know why he pays child support on his son by a 2nd marriage and does not on her but, he wants pictures and he wants her to come visit him in another state. Can he be made to pay child support now?
Thank you.

I am curious as to the circumstances surrounding his relinquishing his rights.. was there someone that adopted the child after he did so?

His rights would need to be reinstated, which I am pretty sure you can petition the court for yourself since he has been in contact with you. I believe part of the stipulation of relinquishing his rights would have been no further contact with the child?

And to answer your question about child support... yes, if his rights are reinstated he can be made to pay support.
