Even if they change the way to calculate parenting time, you would both still have equal time. The best idea I can think of would be for you to get a real JOB. Many parents would rather stay at home with their children then work, but that is not a real possibility for most, even those that are still MARRIED to the other parent. How are you paying your bills on $500 a month?

Being a stay-at-home mom is considered voluntary unemployment. Do you have a college degree? Any work experience? You should expect your ex to make sure (I would think) that an income equivalent to your experience/education be imputed onto you.

The guidelines changed in PA the first of the year, but they still go by total number of overnights, not hours. My husband and his ex-wife also shared joint physical and legal custody and had an equal number of overnights. She made less money and filed for and received child support, but he received a discount for 50% overnights. So you would still receive some support, but he'd get a credit for the children staying the same number of overnights at each of your residences. Not sure what income they would use for you though since $500 a month is less than minimum wage and we don't know if you have prior work history or a degree or formal schooling. But you can still receive child support even though you share custody 50/50.

Even if they did use hours rather than overnights, when you have the kids on his time, it wouldn't count towards your time.

why is that ?
They did it for a long time for me when I was workign secind shift.
This is how it was explained to my ex when he tried to use 'child care hours' as 'parenting time' in his bid for full custody...

"You don't get a credit for providing child care for the children, for the same reason their teachers don't get credit for providing care for them 7+ hours per day. The children spend more awake time in school than they do with either parent. Are you suggesting that the school district would have a basis for a custody filing just because you entrust the children to them for a few hours a day? When the children's mother grants you additional time, or you agree to provide child care, you have just become a 'responsible adult' that she's leaving the children with - you are NOT exercising parenting time."
