What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? PA - My daughter receives support from her father. When she graduates high school are there any reasons he could be ordered to continue child support. I have not requested an increase for her since 2000 because I feel he pays sufficiently to help support her. Our daughter has a well documented learning disablity and will have a Chapter 15 when she starts high school in the fall. With that being said, she has defied odds and is in the college prep curriculum and is a straight A student. But she spends a lot of time studying, goes to bed at 9:00 pm on school nights, and puts in a lot of effort to get those grades. There is no way she could work and go to college part-time. Is this "one of those reasons" that the courts would order her father to continue to help support her or should I be preparing myself to go it alone. Or should I put in for an increase now and just sock the difference into her 520 college fund that I contribute to. He earns 3 times what I do if that matters.

Unless its in your divorce agreement, dad can't be forced to help pay for college. So you should approach him nicely and ask if he is willing to. Then plan accordingly. Expect kiddo to take on a portion of the cost herself through student loans.
