What is the name of your state? Missouri

So, I'm playing with an online version of the Form 14 that MO uses to estimate child support payments. Instead of asking for custodial and non-custodial parent info, it requests 'parent paying support' and 'parent receiving support'.

I filled it out with me receiving support, and it gives an amount of $692/month from the ex.

However, if I fill it out with me paying support, it gives an amount of $256/month paid by me to him.

My question is, how does this generally work out in court? We're going to trial soon for the custody stuff, and I'm working these numbers on the assumption that the physical custody of the children will not change (I currently have them 57% of the time). Do they figure just what he 'owes' me, or do they take what it says he owes me and subtract what it says I owe him? I'm confused. I can't see how I could have them more, and owe him support (which he's claiming is the case) when he makes nearly 2x what I do.

You are going to have to ask your attorney, in cases of shared custody or where there is not a clear cut CP/NCP, in your case there is also the factor of support for the subsequent children both you and your ex have/will have, There is no way we can give you a clear cut answer because it is one to be worked out in court.

Ok, I don't know if this is correct or not, but this is how one attorney explained it to ME a long time ago...

You figure what support would be if NCP paid support (based on visitation, income, all that stuff) THEN you figure what support would be for the CP, based on the same factors... then they take the DIFFERENCE of the two figures, and that is what support is supposed to be.

Like I said, this was ONE attorney trying to explain some odd way of figuring support so I am going to be up front and say that I have NO IDEA if that is accurate or not...

So at the risk of getting verbally pummeled by others on here for giving inaccurate information, I state for the record that I don't know how true that technique actually is.

(ducking and dodging as I type)
