I myself have had not had legal representation in any of this.. I regret that now. I used to live in NC but now reside in TN. My x-wife filed for divorce and had her attorney draw up papers and I just had to sign them. In the papers I said I would pay 600 a month for one child in support. I paid the money directly to her for about 4 months and was then told i was supposed to be sending it through the child support office in nc. i kept all my receipts but she is saying i never paid her any of that money directly. also it says in the papers that if she moves or changes phone numbers she is supposed to tell me but she has moved twice and has not told me either time. i found out through the grapevine and she refuses to give me her address, phone number or allow me to see my child. would i have to obtain a lawyer in the county or state that the child lives if so how can i find out what county? thanks for your time. I also feel like the amount of child support i am paying is too much. it is about 45 percent of what i make.

Retain an attorney in the county where the original orders were filed and then have the attorney file charges of contempt against her. If you have recipts of payments and also show that the checks were cashed then you should be ok.
