What is the name of your state?
virginia

I have been receiving child support for about six months and in March my daughters father went to jail until July. The child support is now $4700.00 behind. I just got a letter stating that a lien has been filed with a court for the amount owed. What does this mean?

I am guessing most likely a child support enforcement agency has put a lien on him.

It means any assets ( things of value ) that they can seize under law that he may have they will.

IE: Bank accounts, etc.

Contact the support collection agency and ask if they done anything specific.

I have called child support and now I'm just waiting on a return call but in the meantime if he doesn't have anything in his name like the bank account or a car what else will they do?

If he gets a Job they will be able to take his State & Federal tax Returns towards the arrears. They can also garnish wages.

Child Support Enforcement also uses computers to compare his social security number with many agencies, State, Federal,Etc., to see if he has come into any money, opened bank accounts.

They will go after what ever they can.
