In the state of Mississippi I want to find out if this is legal, my step children's mom, who is obligated to pay child support and to keep insurance on the boys and pay half the outstanding medical bills which I might add never gave a dime on the medical bills, has informed my husband that she is going to quit her job and to be home with her baby she now and to just do a little baby sitting at home, she also said that a lawyer has told her she can do this and just pay 5.00 week for support of the boys can this be done

Although I am in Texas, this law is pretty universal. If she chooses to remain unemployed, the amount of child support will be based on the minimum wage for your state. She is still required to pay a minimum amount of child support. Calculate child support based on the minimum wage for your state (full-time position)and that is the least she can pay.
Good luck!
