I've been seperated for 4 yrs now, and divorced for almost a year now. I live in Florida and my ex-spouse resides in Pennsylvania with my two daughters, ages 17 and 14 respectively. The girls where to come down for their annual thanksgiving visitation. They where to depart Pittsburgh on Nov 22, and return on Dec. 2nd 2000. They have come down on these same dates prior with no problems, and from our conversation leading up to the departure date, I assumed there where none as well this year.
We arrived at the airport one hour before arrival, and we where under the assumption that they had left at the appointed 2:00 PM departure. We waited at the gate as the passengers debarked the small jet. There was only a few minutes till we noticed they where not on the flight and no one had called to inform us they did not board the plane. My first reaction was to ask the hostess if the girls had miss the connection in Tampa, but they never boarded the plane in Pittsburgh. Well, not sure of the situation I called their home and left a message asking why they had never made the flight. Well finally their mother called and left a message on our phone stating they were in an accident but okay, and they would call and talk about it later. The plane depart Pgh. at 2:08 PM EST, and arrived in W. Palm Beach at 6:12 PM, so this was plenty of time to call and explain the accident especially since no injuries, so we would not make the trip to the airport for nothing. Well they never did, in fact I recieved another message 15 minutes later stating the did not have an accident and that the girls did not want to come down, and they were having problem at their home that needed worked out before they could come down for any time.
So here the delemia, I paid for the tickets, which at the time we could hardly scrape together the money for them this year, because of medical problem. Is it possible to get reimbursed by the ex-spouse for this despicable act, because she knew in advance she was not going to let them come down, and does anyone know what type of family court action I can take because I have equal custody, with living arrangements at her home in Pennsylvania.?
Any and all answers or replies are greatly appreciated, because I pay my child support religously each month and have never miss one, through out the past four years and they where paid by certified cashiers check every month. Please advice, need help.

I would try Small Claims Court .. unless there is a pattern of denied visitation, then go to family court.

This might be a silly ?, but were the tickets nonrefundable? Even if they were, call the airlines and see if they can't be used at a later date. They might charge a fee (probably $25-$75), but you shouldn't lose the purchase price altogether. Sorry for your disappointment and unnecessary trip to the airport, and good luck to you.
