What is the name of your state? washington

we just received word that my mother-in-law passed away in 2002. there are three natural children that she was estranged from. there are some mental issues involved. her husband preceeded her in death. she was retired from G.E. they tell us that the life insurance benefits were paid out in 2002. how do i find out who the beneficiary was.

Benefits were paid out on whose life--your father's? If your father had an estate that was probated in probate court, then ask the executor to get the beneficiary information from the insurance company, since that is usually the only person that the insurance company will release information to.
