Hi, I have been a permanent resident for 14 yrs. and been married for 1 year. Would I be automatically be a u.s. citizen? or Do I need to apply for my U.S. citizenship? thank you

Unless you apply for citizenship, how would the government know you would want citizenship?

You must apply for naturalization to become a US citizen. There is no requirement to become one, and you should check with your home country to be certain they allow it or do not require something from you ahead of time or you risk losing your original citizenship.

Please go to uscis.gov and read the Guide to Naturalization before submitting form N-400.
