What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Colorado

What are your thoughts on a town board/city council member contacting the Town attorney without clearance from the other board members.

One of the letters says something to the effect of ... We as a board just want to be sure we are doing the right thing and not breaking any laws...

The board discovered this communication last night... they were not aware of his communication, and asked him who gave him permission. He informed them that they did not need to give him permission to speak with the Town Attorney.

So what do you think?

Without knowing the exact rules in YOUR town, I'd have to say that it *appears* that this council member contacted the attorney about a town issue that he feels needs to be examined by the attorney. I can't see a much better reason for a council member to contact the attorney...
