What is the name of your state? GA

About 6 years ago I had a car repossessed. I have civil judgements on my credit report as a result. I have two, one is more than the other but for the same repo. I did not rerceive any notice of a court date regarding this suit. Nor was I notified how or when the vehicle would be sold. What are my options?

Thanks

How long ago were the 2 judgments rendered ??

While I'm not sure I understand 2 judgments for the same repo, if you only just discovered this and its been 5-6 years, you have no grounds to vacate or contest either judgment, the time limit for that has run out.

Judgments in GA are only good for 7 years and MAY be renewable (I'd have to did thru GA laws to be sure). The only one that can renew a judgment, if its renewable, is the ORIGINAL judgment creditor, no one else can renew it. If its been 6 years, and they've not acted to collect on this, you've only got a year to go before it expires anyway. It will also drop off your credit report at the 7 year mark.

Are you sure this isn't the SAME judgment but only revived in 2002 ?? What do the court papers say - do you have them ? If not, get them from the court house.

I am sorry, I must not have been clear, please except my apology. It is by the same creditor.

So do I have any options? Can they come after a car I bought a year a go?

Ok. Same creditor, but is it REALLY 2 judgments for the SAME repo ? That makes no sense unless the 'second' was a renewal of the first.

No, they can't take your new car - chances are good you have little or no equity in it.

In the meantime...only if you have not been contacted by anyone regarding the payment of this judgement or judgements..I would do the following. The chances of those items being removed from your credit report before the 7 mark is a 50/50. Write a nice letter to the Credit Reporting Agencies in which you discovered the judgement. Explain to them that you are questioning the validity of the judgement(s) on your credit report. If they can provide you with more information regarding the nature of? This will prompt an investigation by CRA to validate this entry(ies) as it is require by law when a consumer ask for such investigation. Be sure to do this process by mail (certified or CRRR). You should hav a great success with this process. GOOD LUCK AND GOD SPEED

Thanks for the info! An additional question; I have contacted two CRA about adding positive accounts to my reports. The creditors in question only subscribe to one specific CRA. I was told there was no way of adding information unless it is from a member.

Is this true?
