What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? WI

My boyfriend has a child with another woman and he wants to see the child. He called 2 times w/i a 2 week period and asked to see the child. The ex called the police and filed a civil case. Now the police come to my door daily looking for him (we live together) and he won't answer the door. My question is will this go away? I know they have to serve him with the papers, but he thinks they will get sick of coming to our house and it will eventually just go away. The police have been at my door 4 times now and i feel like a prisoner in my own home since he won't open the door to them. Will this go away? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Is it the police? Or a state marshal attempting to serve?

If its the cops, they may want to question him about it, it'd be smart for him to talk to them (note: I said talk, not spill a life story and get himself in trouble. Just be honest about wanting to see the kid and the amount of times called. Have your phone bill ready to prove it if possible.)

If it's a marshal attempting to serve, they'll try a few times then just leave the papers in your door.

Either way, answer it... it won't just go away, it will only get worse if you ignore.

The “police” haven’t been trying to serve your boyfriend with “papers”. If they have papers to serve, doors don’t get in their way.

A civil process server has been doing the knocking.

You say that you are sick of being hounded and jumping out of you skin every time you hear someone at the door?? THEN GET IT DONE AND OVER WITH!

Next time open the door, make the guy identify himself and his purpose, let him in, and point out the closet your jerk of a boyfriend is trembling in so he can toss the papers at his cowardly feet.

Have you given serious thought to dumping this irresponsible loser? If not, why not? And if not, maybe you should consider the bleak future of any children born of this relationship.

Wow, she asked for some legal advice on a free legal advice forum, not a personal attack on her and her boyfriends character.

You have no idea who these people are and what they've been through (and neither do I) so what gives you the right to judge another human being?

It would serve everyone if you kept your angry and negative opinions to yourself.

In all fairness, latigo did NOT attack her character at all - just that of the irresponsible boyfriend.

(and made a very valid point...)

Seriously, OP needs to let her boyfriend deal with his legal matters himself.
