What is the name of your state?Georgia
Hello I have a payday loan online that went in default. I paid thousands of dollars for a 500 loan. I called my district attorney and he said to not worry to much becasue they are illegal in GA. My question is this I have been threatened with a civil warrant. Is this where they arrest me? I want to pay them but I need the intrest to stop on it. I have called them and they will not talk unless I send in the entire amount due which is now $1300 more. I just wanted to know if you can be arrested for a civil warrant. THanks

**A: who in their right mind would pay thousands of dollars for a $500 loan?

unfortunately me. I know I made a huge mistake. Im not going to go into all the circumstances that led me to the desperate loan. But it is done. I just want to pay it off and be over with it. Can anyone help me to let me know exactly what a civil warrant is? Do they arrest you for these? Any help would be greatly appreciated. THanks.

"Civil warrant" is a term used in some states which means petition or claim or complaint (i.e., the paper that starts a civil action).

"Civil warrant" may also mean "body attachment", i.e., a civil court tells a law enforcement agent to latch on to someone for some specific reason.

However, if you are asking us if you can be arrested simply for owing money, then the answer is probably no.

Debtors prisons went out with the American Revolution (but are starting to come back in some child support arrearage cases).
