What is the name of your state? CA
My mother passed away in August of last year, I am a 1/3 beneficiary of her life insurance policy. The claim was denied due to her being retired (forced retirement from cancer), she sent a beneficiary change form about 2 months before she died. The insurance company denied the claim from the date of her retirement (2 years previous to her death), but kept all her monthly dues, and never notified any beneficiaries until a claim was made? Is this legal, and if it is HOW!!! Should the insurance company refund the premiums from the date of her retirement which was the basis of their denial? Please help!!!!

Is this reason for denial mentioned in the policy? If you don't have an actual copy of the policy, request it from the insurance company.

File a complaint with your state insurance commissioner so that he/she can investigate this officially on your behalf.
