Texas

Settlement from civil suit to be received this year - two payments a year for three years total. Attorney takes out 33% - not sure if at the front - total settlement amount - or out of each payment received.

Can I claim attorney's fees on my taxes somehow next year and for the remaining two years if the attorney takes his fees out of every payment?

If so, how? Would it be a deduction of some sort?

Thanks!
