What is the name of your state? WA

I know you are tired of this question but I need some assurance.

My daughter lived with me for 14 years and half of 2003, finishing up the school year here. She then moved in with her dad and his girlfriend and started school in another town.

I already filed and claimed her, and he is threatening to go ahead and claim her also, stating we would be audited and I have to prove she lived with me.

I am unsure when the exact date she went to live with him was, but as I stated, she finished school here.

We have never been married and have no custody agreement, but I had physical custody up until last year. The only thing in writing about this is our new child support order stopping his payments for her and this was done sometime in August.

I want to be prepared for an audit, what proof should I gather? Could house bills in my name be considered proof? He has nothing in his name, they live with his girlfriend. Thanks

The parent who had custody for most of the year gets the dependency. If your daughter moved after July 2, you get the exemption. If it was before then, you'll have to hope that the IRS considers custody to remain with you until the support order is changed.
