What is the name of your state?Texas
I have lived at my home for 10 years now and I have never claimed my mortgage interest. I was told at one time (2 yrs at home)that I could not use this 1098 form until I accumilated more time there. I received my form 1098 for 2004 and noticed that I did not receive any points in Box 2. Does it really matter how long you have lived at your home and can you still claim 1098 if you have not received any points ???? Thanks for your time..... :)

Points are listed on the first 1098 you receive, the year you buy the house.

They will not be listed on subsequent forms 1098. If you have sufficient deductions, you can claim mortgage interest from the minute you move into the house, there is no waiting period.
