What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? washington state

My fiance wants to go to school out of state in Oregon. He is claiming our son on his FAFSA application so my question is if he does this can I still apply for state aid this year?

The situation (as I have so far been educated on) will be that my fiance will be living down in oregon working part time and going to school full time at a culinary institute. I am to stay up here in washington working full time and watching our son.

Now i don't see much if any money coming my way to care for our son so I am wondering if I should tell him that he should not claim him on his FAFSA so that I can get state aid if needed as I will be the one providing over 50% of his living expenses.

Also my fiance has already claimed him on his taxes as "we" got more money back with him claiming our son than me. He makes more than me but 33% of his check goes to child support to his ex wife, so I bring home more than him.

If he claimed him on his tax return for 2008 it would be appropriate for him to claim the child on his FAFSA for this year.

If you will be applying newly for state aid, based on today's reality in stead of 2008 reality, it would have no effect on your application for state aid.
