What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Illinois

I am 62 and have no job becuse of health issues. I have many medical bills and a credit card debt. My husband has his own bussiness which is not doing well at all. Can I by myself claim bankrupcy? Will it hurt me in the long run? As far as social sucurity, I have just made a claim and now dont know if the goverment is going to help us seniors. Can I do this?

Can you file an individual bk without your husband-yes.
Will it hurt you or should you-who knows. We don't know what assets you have to protect.
Most bk lawyers give free or lowcost initial consultations. SPeak with a couple and see what they suggest.
