What is the name of your state?What is the name of your state? TEXAS- I work for a company and I'm going to start cleaning the offices after work and on weekends, and the payroll manager said that they are going to take out taxes on my check for cleaning, can they do that or not, if they can, under what terms and if they can't i need to know for what reason so I can approach her with the correct answer.Thanks

**A: your post makes no sense. I think you are referring to employer deductions of taxes, SS etc. Why do you need cleaning? Don't you take a bath?
Ok, here is the deal. You will be working part time for this company in addition to your regular job. You will still be considered an employee thus subject to the same deductions as your regular job. If you asked her to explain it, she would have.

of course they can deduct taxes from your check. It would be illegal for them not to.

You are cleaning the offices of the employer for your day job? You are doing this as an independant contractor or as additional duties to your day job?
