I've spent my life recording and trading videos - I have close to 4000 tapes of material that is not readily available - interviews, awards shows, variety shows, etc. But time and space dictates I need to clear most of these tapes out. I'm not distributing copies. I am merely clearing them out - when they are gone they're gone. But if I have to go to ebay and claim that I am selling 4000 BLANKS which may have prerecorded material on them and get a few hundred dollars for a collection which cost me in the neighborhood of $40,000 over the years, I'll just keep 'em and make do. Can a video collector sell his or her tapes for approx $10-$15 apiece - identifying the material on each tape, stating that he or she is not distributing copies but selling the original recording (I hesitate to say "original recording" because about 30% of the material I have I acquired in trade and is 2nd generation or lower)? Or will such action send in Jack Valenti and his MPAA troops? I'm guessing it's not possible. Video collectors are treated like drug dealers. Thanks.
