What is the name of your state? Arizona

I am a business owner. I received an e-mail from a past client, who we will call "J", stating that she has received e-mails from other past client claiming that I am holding their product from them. She was concerned about also receiving her product. I e-mailed her back immediately and assure her that she is welcome to meet with me at anytime to receive her product. I would be willing to meet her tomorrow. Next week. Or even ship the product. She e-mailed me back saying she was no longer concerned and that once their complete order is placed, they will schedule a time to meet with me to receive the product.

I went out of town for the weekend. Upon returning home I received a phone message from a local news station. I called the reporter back and he told me that this client, "J", contacted him and is accusing me of holding her product from her. I was completely shocked because I believed everything was worked out. As well, it was very out of charactor for her to do this.

So I contacted "J" and found out that the "past clients" that e-mailed her, also called the News Station and impersonated her. The "past clients" is actually one client and her mother. She is contacting my past clients telling them I am holding their product from them. She is contacting the news station telling them I am holding their product from them. She is calling the news station AS my OTHER clients and claiming I am holding their product from them.

"J" has agreed to do anything she can to help me. She is upset that someone is calling a news station impersonating her. She is upset that someone is trying to sabotage me. She will go to court for me if I need her too.

I don't know what to do. I don't know who to contact. I also don't have the money to pay upfront as I am about to have a baby and we're in the middle of closing on our house. I don't even know if I have a case against this mom and daughter.

Advice?

I give up. What are you talking about?

Do I have this straight?

Former clients, mom and daughter, are telling other clients that you take orders and money but never deliver the product?

Former clients also called a reporter and made the same allegation? Why did they call the reporter? Surely this did not make “the news”? Was it one of those “consumer help” reporters? What was the outcome of your chat with the reporter?

DO YOU owe former clients something? If so, they are telling the truth and there is nothing you can do about it.

If you do not owe them anything and there is no basis for these allegations, they are defaming you.

It is up to J to do something about the fact that they may have impersonated her.
