What is the name of your state? Maine

I posted a movie of my ex-girlfriend - who was 17 1/2 years old at time of recording - online. She has recently found out about it, and I am worried that she/her parents may press charges. Since she was so close to 18 at the time of recording, and I had no knowledge/participation in her making the video before she gave it to me, would the courts be easier on me? Do you have any idea what the fines or jail time are on a case like this. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

In the state of Maine:

"Minor" means a person who has not attained 18 years of age

1. A person is guilty of dissemination of sexually explicit material if:

A. The person intentionally or knowingly disseminates or possesses with intent to disseminate any book, magazine, newspaper, print, negative, slide, motion picture, videotape, computer data file or other mechanically, electronically or chemically reproduced visual image or material that depicts any minor who the person knows or has reason to know is a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct. Violation of this paragraph is a Class C crime;

I don't know the punishment for a Class C crime. I just wanted to address your comment that she was "almost" 18.

wow. just friggin wow. Why in the HELL would you do something like that.

What difference does it make that you didn't participate in the making of the film? You DID know how old she was in the film when you posted it for the world to see.

You are a real piece of work. Be sure to take a camera with YOU to prison.

Found it.

For a Class A, Class B or Class C crime the court must specify a county jail as the place of imprisonment if the term of imprisonment is 9 months or less; or commit the person to the Department of Corrections if the term of imprisonment is more than 9 months.

The court shall set the term of imprisonment as follows: In the case of a Class C crime, the court shall set a definite period not to exceed 5 years;

Except as otherwise provided in paragraphs B and C, the minimum sentence of imprisonment, which may not be suspended, is as follows: When the sentencing class is Class C, the minimum term of imprisonment is one year;

If the court imposes a sentence under this paragraph, the court shall state in writing its reasons for its findings and for imposing a sentence under this paragraph rather than under paragraph A; and if the court imposes a sentence under paragraph B, the minimum sentence of imprisonment, which may not be suspended, is as follows: When the sentencing class is Class C, the minimum term of imprisonment is 3 months.
