What is the name of your state? PA

I was the inventor/designer of a patented design at a previous employer. I specified, calculated, designed and built the invention before leaving the company in 1999. Months after I left, they advertised in a trade publication that the new feature was pending patent. I called to inquire and they stated that it was a typographical error in the advertisement.

I was paging through the publication yesterday and now found that it is advertised as patented. I found the patent on the USPTO website where my former colleague is listed as the sole inventor (of course the firm is the assignee).

Realizing that the assignee is the holder of the patent, and that the USPTO has procedures for revisions to the patent (i.e. modifications to the inventor/co-inventor section), is there any legal ground on which I can stand to have my name listed as co-inventor of this patent?

I am not looking for anything but myself being listed as co-inventor, but am afraid that my former firm will ignore my request.

Regards:
