What is the name of your state? illinois. Hi I wanted to find out about something to do with real estate, but I didn't find anything on your site that would answer my question. I am co-owner of the house that i live in. my nephew and i bought it together six years ago. At that time he was not married. Last year he got married, but she does not live with him. However I am concerned about this because, if anything were to happen to him, is she legally able to take the house from me, if she should choose to. My nephew is first on all the papers. Can you please answer this question for me?
Thank You

I'm sure there's an interesting story here.

if anything were to happen to him, is she legally able to take the house from me, if she should choose to.
She might be awarded his interest in the house in a divorce, or she might inherit his interest in the house. If that were to happen, she could file a partition lawsuit, which could result in a forced sale, with a division of the proceeds.

I am not a lawyer.
