I'm from New Mexico. Over the summer last year I was 17, and doing an internship IN Denver, when I started receiving messages on twitter. They were back and forth me trying to figure out who it was, and who was saying nasty things with me. Eventually he have himself up and said the truth about who he was. He was a former coach/teacher at my school, but he moved and switched schools. He came to a football game and approached me. After that he went back on twitter messages and messaged me again. I was so scared so I took it to a detective. He told me he couldn't charge him because I was 17. I just feel like I got no justice and to this day in scared. The coach has two sons who were my friends, I just recently deleted them off of Facebook because their dad was showing up in my news feed. I'm not sure if this is the right category to post it in but I really need help

Help doing what?

You reported the situstion to the police who said what they saw was not illegal. You could call the local prosecutor and see if they would meet with you to review the matter. If the answer is no I don't see anything else to do.

Although I agree with what justalayman wrote, I am curious. What sort of "nasty things" did the coach write?

While I agree there probably isn't anything illegal going on (illegal as in something that a detective could do something about), I also think that an adult (someone formerly in authority) twittering "nasty things" at first anonymously to a 17-year-old is pretty creepy. I think OP has good reason to be upset about about this. (I would have been upset if a former teacher was doing this to me when I was 17. In fact, I'd be damned upset if someone formerly in authority over me, like say, my old boss, started twittering nasty stuff to me now - and I'm 59!)

OP, what do your parents say about this?

OP and OP's parent(s) should convey the information to the school currently employing him.

Depending on where the school is located, and the conditions of his employment (morals clause, for example), this might be a no-no.

One would wonder why he changed schools.
