what remedies are available when a fire department holds up building plans due to blatant missinterpretation of codes. these interpretaions began 7 months ago when a new unqualified fire marshall was appointed and are not consistent with past interpretations and practices.
some of these codes are being applied differantly to other builders and i think it may be personal with me since i was the union rep for the firefighters in this district for 20 plus years. the most obvious violation is the requirement of me to widen a state owned public road that pre exists 1935. they somehow interpret this road as a fire dept. access road even though the uniform fire code defines a fire dept. access road as a road needed when a structures furthest first story point is more then 150' from a public access road.
Thanks for any ideas,
Frank
