Code Violations

I read on this site's homepage that a person can breach a lease when undisclosed code violations are found in the apartment by the lessee. Does this mean that I can bring a city official to inspect the premises and, upon them citing one violation, breach the lease agreement due to this fact? Does this apply to ANY code violation? Am I in any way responsible for any further rent at that point in time? The actual term used on the page is "legal misconduct" by the lessor and code violations are given as an example. What else could be construed as "legal misconduct"?
