collect on a verbal contract

Yet another problem we are trying to solve.

We are a media services business (filming weddings, parties, etc.) So, a former partner got us a wedding client, but neglected to get them to sign a contract, or to pay the usual deposit money (was $100 deposit, now a 25% deposit). Now, we cannot get in contact with said client, they have not paid, and we have not started work on their dvd. We have, however, filmed their wedding. Usually, the client would have paid in full, and they did make an attempt to pay, but the former partner did nothing about it. We did have a verbal contract (that is both parties agreed upon a price) for $650. What can we do to collect the money in a legal fashion. Thank you for your advice. So far, there is nothing in your post to indicate that there is even a legal issue... other than no contract.
Further, your post says that "we cannot get in contact with said client". If you can't contact them and they have not contacted you as yet, then any 'legal' questions are moot until such time arises.

I might not have worded myself correctly. We have already done the work, though they do not have the finished product. We have contacted them several times to pay the amount due to us, but they have not contacted us back. Both parties (us and them) agreed upon the price of $650 for the work we did (film their wedding.) Is that considered a verbal contract since they did agree to pay that amount?? Sort of a "we did our part, now you pay us" type of thing. Would that stand up in some sort of small claims court?? Sorry if I am bad at wording things.

*** Probably, yes. However, it won't see the light of the court if you can't locate them for service.
