What is the name of your state? California
I have been an employee with my company for 8 years. They recently decided to downsize and relocate. They have offered to make me a consultant if I wish to stay on. If i accept this position and then they stop using my services would I still be able to collect unemployment when looking for a new job? What is the name of your state?

Please clarify what your status will be. "Consultant" covers a lot of territory.

Are you saying that you will no longer be an employee but rather will be self-employed as an Independent Consultant and will be paid as a supplier? Or are you saying you will stay on their payroll as an employee with the title of Consultant, and that they'll use your services on an as-need basis?
