What is the name of your state? OH

Three months ago, I settled a joint credit card debt of $7100 for $4000 that that my ex-husband was supposed to pay, but never did. I have a settlement offer letter, letter from the collection agency on behalf of their client stating that I indeed paid them the settled amount of $4000, documentation where it cleared my bank, among all other correspondence. It has also since been removed from my credit report and my credit rating has been restored.

Having been remarried- my current husband received a call today from a different collection agency saying that I owed the original creditor $3000- the difference of the original amount and settled amount. For some reason, the collector didn't have my phone number (though the previous collector did) and knew other odd information about me. My husband tried to call the original collector that I settled with to find out what's going on, and it now leads to a travel agency.

What should I do, if anything? After all, I have supporting documentation. Since the settlement letter clearly states that the named creditor authorized the settlement and agrees to settle for $4000, which has been paid, they can't make me pay the rest, can they?

Any assistence would be great!
