What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New York

Hi all,
so i took my LL to court after my security deposit was not returned. I have a judgement in my favor; looked up some old rent checks and figured out the LL's bank, but when the sheriff tried to execute/collect payment, the bank informed that the account had been closed.
Not sure what other options are available to recover my money; I read in a couple of places that the DMV could place a lien on the LL's vehicle (if any)...but the sheriff's office was less than enthusiastic about it - any thoughts/suggestions around the DMV option?
To make matters worse, the property is under foreclosure and i'm not even sure if i will recover anything if it goes down that path. I know the LL has another property in a different county (outside NY city jurisdiction), but can a lien be placed on this?

Appreciate any suggestions/advice. Thanks. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Do you know whether the LL is still in the area? You can try shotgunning executions to all the banks in XX-radius of his home and cross your fingers that he hasn't resorted to burying his cash in a mason jar in his garden. (As you have learned the hard way, winning a judgment is meaningless if collection is impossible).

Good luck.

If worse comes to worse , your last effort would be to file a transcript of judgment ( from the claims court ) with the County"s Clerk's office and see where it flies .

Check with the County Clerk to see if he has anything under their name on file .

At least it will be there for the record if he again attempts business .

It may get him to pay up .
