What is the name of your state? NC

i received a judgement against someone for around 2k in july of this year. the guy i sued didn't show up for court, didn't think he would, so i was awarded the entire amount. how do i go about collecting the money from this person? i know about the execution of judgement but he recently remarried and would probably list all the possessions in the house as belonging to his wife and have them exempt, if he knew he could. plus a lot of people, not legal people, have said i'd never see this money and i'd be wasting more time and money if i executed this judgement. the only thing i know that's in his name is his old work van and i know he has steady employment because i had him served at work. what are my chances of getting the money that's owed to me and what's the best way to do it?

Since you can't garnish wages in NC, then you have to go after his bank accounts and his property. You can have him hauled into court for a debtors exam to find out where he banks and what assets he has. Once you have that info, you can do something about it. If you know where he banks, file for a levy against any accounts he has in that bank. He doesn't have to be notified, will NOT be notified, the money will just be siezed and his account frozen. ANY account with his name on it, including joint accounts, is fair game.

unfortunately i don't know where he banks now. i know where he used to bank but he owed them money for bad checks, along with a lot of other people, so i doubt he's gone back to that bank. thanks for the info about seizing bank accounts. i didn't know they did that in NC either. maybe i'll get lucky and catch him at a bank. is there any way to find out where he banks? there's no way i'm going to get any info from him or his family. plus this is a guy who could care less about his credit, unless his new wife is more responsible and tells him to take care of it, so i know he won't pay on his own to have it cleared. the only info i know of is his current address and employer.
