About three weeks ago, I recieved a phone call from a debt collector saying I owe on a jewelry account from Febuary 1990. Although I explained to them that, I wasn't in the country during that time they insisted that the I made the debt and it was owed. So I asked the lady to send me a validation of debt from the creditor due to them only being the collector and not the creditor itself. I was faxed a letter only repeating what was said in our phone conversation but they did have in the letter I owed them although I was told that it was opened under a kay jewelry account. I recieved another call asking did I recieve the form and what was I going to do I told them I needed a validation of the debt showing my signature and the true amount owed since I was given 3 different amounts. The manager came on the phone and was very rude. He told me that because this was an old debt it would be expensive and take some time. I said fine. Although I have informed them that the statue of limitation is up and that it is not showing on my credit report with which they said it was, I still am recieving phone calls about reporting this to the credit burea and garnishing my wages could you please help me in what actions I could do to take care of this situation.
