What is the name of your state?
Nevada
My brother died in May 2000. I was executor and I had an attorney handle the case. The estate was settled 2001 and there were no excess monies and not all debtors were paid. Now after all these years a collection agency sends me a collection notice that a debt exists. Do I need to even respond to this collection attempt or can I just ignore it?What is the name of your state?

As executor, you have to respond.
Were they on the estate creditor list? Did you send that creditor a copy of the death certificate, etc.??
Send the CREDITOR (not the collection agent) a copy of death certificate and a copy of the court order closing the probate.
