What is the name of your state?OHIO

I had left a mobile home in Aug 2004 unable to pay balance of $22,000.
The bank sent me a bill and then decided to put on my credit as a bad debt write off.
Now I receive a letter in the mail for the balance due of $6600.
Can they collect again after saying on credit report that it has been wrote off?

A: Unless you paid your bill, yes.

I think you misunderstood the term "write off". What this means is that the originating lender (creditor) has labeled it as a loss and probably sold it to a collection agency. This doesn't mean that you're not liable for any of the debt. You're still liable and it seems they've now found you and they're looking to collect.

So, how are you planning on paying off this debt?

FYI -- charge off (or write off) is an accounting term. It does not change the fact that you owe the debt.

Thank you for your replys. I guess I will have to get a loan. The bank has not turned it over to a collection agency b/c the bank is who I got the letter from. Yesterday I had a voice mail from the bank also. So yes they are looking for me.
