What is the name of your state? Michigan
I was trying to do the right thing by getting on The Green Path to pay off my debts, but they did not pay all of the bills like they should have, one being my doctor's office. I went in to pick up something and the lady told me they hadn't gotten a payment, but accepted the arrangement. I paid her that month's payment and called Green Path in which my counselor yelled at me and told me not to pay them directly. So the next month I didn't, nor the next. Soon I get a letter from a collection agency regarding the debt. I call them because I don't want to be discharged at the doctor's office, and I ask to make arrangements like I had with Green Path. The woman would not accept my arrangement, nor would she accept the balance due because she says I owe an emergency doctor 200 from June 1998. I asked her to send me debt verification because I had already taken care of the hospital bills from back then and she said I would have to ask in writing.

Three questions
Will asking in writing for debt verification give cause to reage the account defeating the SOL?

Is the SOL expired for this debt?

Does this agency have the right to refuse to accept the payment of this current debt if I refuse to pay the other
