hi everyone. i have a question. i'm 19 years old, i stupidly applied for a credit card last year and charged a 1000 dollars on it. i couldn't pay it off so i kept on delaying payment and eventually stopped paying. now a collection agency is calling me. i don't even have a social security number yet. can someone please tell me what htese people have the authority to do. i told them that in a year i will pay the amount in full, but they want all of it now, what should i do? and what if i don't ppay the bill, what can they do to me? i thought it was just that if you don't pay your bills, your credit history gets screwed, isn't that how it is?
